VAPORiTe+Plus – Advanced moisture and vapour barrier, 4.5kg

VAPORiTe+Plus

Advanced moisture and vapour barrier

VAPORiTe+PLUS® is a deep penetrating two-part epoxy sealer which is designed for the creation of a moisture barrier on concrete substrates where excess screed moisture poses a problem for the application or installation of moisture sensitive finishes such as vinyl, rubber, linoleum and wood flooring. VAPORiTe+PLUS® is designed to allow very low levels of vapour or moisture to permeate through the membrane so that the subsequent layers comprising the complete system remain un-affected by the rising moisture. Residual moisture in the substrate which emanates from the concrete drying process can be dealt with successfully provided the sub-surface moisture is below 6%, and that the substrates are not exposed to excessive hydro static forces.

Surface Preperation

The substrate surface must be free of contamination by oils, grease, paint or any other contaminants. The
area must be thoroughly swept or vacuumed to remove loose particles or dust. Grinding of the substrate
surface is recommended to improve penetration.

Warranty

VAPORiTe +PLUS® is guaranteed to be free of manufacturing defect. iTe PRODUCTS further warrants that
if VAPORiTe +PLUS® is applied in accordance with the relevant method statement issued for the specific
project, by an approved applicator, the system is guaranteed for the life of the floor covering.

For warranty purposes this translates as suspended slabs, and contact slabs where sound damp proof
membranes and /or good drainage has been installed prior to the casting of the concrete slabs. Although
applications with higher moisture levels have been successfully completed, the extent of hydrostatic
pressure is generally not measurable on sites, and warranties for these applications where hydrostatic
pressure is a factor, are issued once a test area has been successfully undertaken.

When encountering contact slabs with questionable hydrostatic pressure issues, or residual screed
moisture exceeds 6% as measured, a test area should be applied, and if no signs of delamination are
experienced, application can proceed with confidence. Please note that no warranty can be issued if the
moisture content exceeds 6%.

Application

VAPORiTe +PLUS® can be applied by steel plaster trowel, mohair paint roller or brush. When applying by
roller or brush, we recommend that the first coat is applied directionally, say in a South/North direction,
and the second at ninety degrees, say East/West. As soon as the first coat is applied, roll the surface
with a mohair roller to help quicker drying and a more even spread. Any divots or depressions where an
accumulation of VAPORiTe +PLUS® may be ponding, must be brushed out to leave a thin film on the
substrate.

When used as part of a self-levelling compound system underneath LEVELiTe® F10, F30, F50 or F100,
the second coat must be allowed to cure and then iTe SLURRY® applied In accordance with the iTe
Slurry Data Sheet, and allowed to dry completely. This will provide the textured surface required to
promote adhesion between the barrier and the levelling compound. When dry, the LEVELiTe self-levelling
compound can be applied.

Thoroughly mix the two components for 4 minutes with a paddle
mixer, and apply with the trowel, roller or brush as pictured. The
surface must be thoroughly coated to ensure a defect-free finish.
Allow approximately 2 hours between coats (see section
“Planning”). Apply the second coat at right angles to the first.
The second coat will take approximately 2 hours to cure, after
which the iTe SLURRY® is applied and left to dry.

Once the reaction has started, the process cannot be reversed,
or remixed.
Tools and equipment must be washed in cold water immediately
after use.

Description

VAPORiTe +PLUS® is a deep penetrating water-based two part Epoxy Sealer which is designed for the
creation of a moisture or vapour barrier on cementitious screeds or concrete surface beds and substrates
where excess screed moisture poses a problem for the application or installation of moisture sensitive
finishes such as vinyl, rubber, linoleum, textile and wood flooring. VAPORiTe +PLUS® is suitable for use
on porous surface beds and suspended slabs where the residual moisture levels exceed the permissible
levels as stipulated by the relevant floor covering manufacturer. This maximum is typically 3 to 3,5%
Moisture Content (MC). VAPORiTe +PLUS® will withstand levels far in excess of this, provided good
adhesion is experienced between the substrate and the moisture barrier.

The product is designed to allow very low levels of vapour or moisture to permeate through the membrane
so that the subsequent layers comprising of the flooring, adhesive, self-levelling compound, ie the
complete system, remain unaffected by the rising moisture. Residual moisture in the substrate which
emanates from the concrete drying process can be dealt with successfully provided the sub-surface
moisture is below 6%, and that the substrates are not exposed to excessive hydrostatic forces.

VAPORiTe +PLUS® is packed in a dual pack comprising a 5 Litre Bucket containing a total of 4,5kg of
the base and activator when combined. The complete content of the activator must be thoroughly mixed
into the base with an electric stirrer for four minutes to ensure thorough mixing. Once mixed, the applied
coating takes 2 to 3 hours to cure.

Pot life of the mixed product Is approximately 30 minutes. Do not try to use the same pot for the second
coat.
The shelf life is approximately >6 months un-opened).
